General

For the purposes of running my website, some information related to everyone who visits to my site is collected and made available to me as analytics. The WordPress plugin, Jetpack, does this. This information includes city, region, and country, the means by which a visitor found my website (i.e., if you clicked from Google Search, a social media site, etc.), the total number of file downloads, number of views for specific pages, and the device used to view my page.

All of this information is anonymised, meaning it is not connected to any identifiable information. Further, the categories of information listed above are isolated, meaning that I cannot see, for example, that an individual from a certain place visited a certain page and downloaded a certain document. Rather I can see that a certain number of people from a range of places visited a range of pages and a certain number of downloads were made. Therefore, I am not able to learn anything specific about you, as an individual, from the analytic data that WordPress collects. This data is typically stored indefinitely. All information collected and stored is stored behind password protection to which only I, Dai Davies, have access.

Subscribers

Thank you for considering subscribing! When you subscribe, WordPress shares with me the name of your WordPress account and the email that it’s connected to. Information on your country of residence, your WordPress website (if connected to your account), number of newsletters your received, opened, and clicked links in is also made available to me. Your account name and email will only be used for the purposes of WordPress sending you updates about my website (i.e., what you signed up for). Your account name and email are treated as confidential. I will never personally use, store, or share your account name or email for any other purposes. This information is typically stored in WordPress indefinitely or until you request its deletion.

Donations

Thank you for considering donating! If you choose to donate to my work, WordPress will collect the name of your WordPress account and email that you put into the form. Your account name will also be added to the Wall of Support. If you have a specific request, including if you would like to be recognized as an anonymous donor, please let me know. I will never personally use, store, or share your account name or email for any other purposes. This information is typically stored in WordPress indefinitely or until you request its deletion.

Contact

When you use the contact form on my site, WordPress stores your IP address, the name, and email address that you put in the form. I will receive your message as an email that includes only the name, email, and message. Your name, email address, IP address, and message are treated as confidential. I will never personally use, store, or share your name, email, IP address, or message for any other purposes. This information is typically stored in WordPress indefinitely or until you request its deletion. If you are uncomfortable with any part of this information collection, please just send me an email instead!

If you end up hiring me to do work for you, on your family tree or otherwise, I will store your name, our message history, and any files you provide me, on my password-protected computer. However, this information will only be used for the purposes of the contracted work or for any other purposes to which we agree. All completed projects are made available to you by email and by OneDrive.

Comments and Likes

Thanks for leaving a like and a comment! Any comment or like is stored indefinitely on my site until you either delete the comment or remove the like. Only your account name is connected to your comments and likes and is publicly viewable.

Why is This Information Collected?

The information outlined above under subscribers, donations, contact, and comments and likes, is collected only for the purposes of running this site. The information is required by WordPress for the purpose of offering these services. The information outlined under General is currently used solely for the purposes of feedback on what kinds of content are of interest to visitors, which enables me to tailor my work to what you want to see and how you want to see it!

Removal Requests

In any case where you would like me to delete your Subscribers, Donations, or Contact information, please let me know by using my contact form. You will need to provide me your email address so the information can be located for deletion.
