Client Research

Having trouble starting your family tree? Reached a brick wall? Overwhelmed by Welsh place names? Let me know and I can help with your family history research! Here’s how it works:

  1. Email me with a quick description of your research questions.
  2. We start with a free 30min consultation on Zoom to go over what information you have so far, identify your main questions, and create a customized research plan.
  3. After we decide on the number of hours needed to answer your questions, I go off to research. I search the online databases to collect copies of original records and I analyze those records to answer your research questions in a written research report.
  4. You will receive the research report and copies and/or transcripts of all of the records I find.
  5. After you read through the research report, I offer a free 15min meeting over Zoom to go over any questions and/or discuss a plan for future research.

Welsh House/Farm History

Interested in the history of your Welsh house, farm, or business? I can research its history back to the Victorian period (and usually earlier) and turn it into a pamphlet, booklet, or report for you to share with your friends, family, visitors!

This is a great option for people considering changing the Welsh name of their property. Especially in cases where the new place name is English, critics of the change can lead to public outcry and media scandal. Work with me to show your willingness listen to the critiques by helping to preserve the history of your property!

Record Lookups

I have access to a number of records that are not digitized. If you believe any of these are relevant to your family research, I can gather information from them for you. The records I can search for you are as follows:

Testimonials

April, 2026: Finding Welsh-Australian Immigrant Ancestors

“I emailed Dai to find out if I had Welsh ancestry. Dai is a lovely open, warm sensitive skilled researcher. We had a great chat for half an hour and discussed the fee for the report. Dai compiled a fantastic report, now my story about 5 generations of my Welsh ancestors. It’s been really exciting! Dai put together many details including many footnotes with hyperlinks as well as photos of the churches where family married. Very special information. Best money I’ve ever spent – so worthwhile. No more wonder if I have welsh heritage! I’m very grateful for the work you have done Dai! I’ll be in touch!”

July, 2025: Researching Farming Families in Breconshire

April, 2025: Researching Labouring Families in Shropshire

“Dai expressed a genuine interest in helping me learn more about an ancestor we had almost no knowledge about. They also pointed me towards resources, research ideas, and history I would have never come to on my own. I am new to this research and feel like I now have a much clearer understanding of my family and the place they came from.”
